Children’s photographer in León
For starters, I would like to thank Victor and Carla’s parents. It may be the session in which the parents have contributed the most to the final outcome.
Luckily for me, they were the ones who chose the place. An idyllic village on the mountain of León. How come I’ve never been there before?
As a children’s photographer in León, I was already used to finding dreamy spots in this city. But, I must admit that the final result surprised me and judging by their faces, this place promised a lot.
I don’t know if you’ve been before in a kitchen that was used in the villages when the slaughter was done. It’s a tradition that’s been going on for centuries. It is usually done at the end of the year in the cold winter, and people from the villages get together to carry out this laborious task. In order to get to the place, we walked for a long time in a rain that made us wet even if it doesn’t seem like it. In León we call it calabobos. The rain was accompanied by a horrible cold, which gets into your bones and paralyzes you.
Finally, we entered the kitchen. A place that, although dark, already augured many possibilities. How many years of stories would be locked up in there!
First of all, we must highlight the furniture clearly abandoned over time. It could be any antique dealer’s dream. Facing us, a huge seat in walnut wood completely blackened by the smoke of more than a hundred years. In one corner, a rickety cupboard with hardly any glass. We didn’t have natural lighting because there was only a small window protected by grilles. Not content with everything the place had to offer, the parents arrived loaded with a lot of decorative objects. Cookie jars, wooden ladles, clay pots…. Everything you need to recreate the story of Hansel and Gretel with total accuracy.
Once everything had been carefully placed on the different dusty shelves, we had the perfect setting to recreate the kitchen of the old witch from the story. To get Hansel out of his confinement, this time we had two beautiful girls who played the role of Gretel in a wonderful way. Carla and Valentina enjoyed themselves and their joy translated into a lot of naturalness.
The result: some spectacular photos where the smiles of the children say it all. The Grimm brothers wrote the story with the intention of transmitting the value of fraternity. These photos also transmit the
same values.
As a children’s photographer, the hardest thing is to keep children from getting bored. The dream of any photographer is that they do what we want them to do without being asked to do it. That’s easy to get when you ask them to throw flour, make chocolate cookies or eat them without bothering to get dirty.
And that’s how we spent an unforgettable day, in a different place, with some lovely children. And that’s how we managed to immortalize all those laughter in a unique environment.
