Working as a family photographer Mallorca allows me to discover unique stories, but this session in Portals Nous was special from the very beginning. A lovely Irish family of 17 reached out to me with a clear idea: to celebrate the grandmother’s 70th birthday with a family photoshoot that would bring everyone together for the first time.

It was not just about capturing beautiful images. They wanted something deeper, a visual memory of a once in a lifetime moment. They had never done a full family photoshoot before. This time everyone had traveled to Mallorca to come together and they chose this moment to make it unforgettable.

From the very beginning their energy was contagious. Three generations walking together toward the sunset. Laughter hugs children running between emotional adults. In that moment I knew this was not just another family session in Mallorca. It was a celebration of life family and true connection.

We chose Portals Nous for the session and it could not have been a better choice. This corner of southwest Mallorca combines sea, rocks and greenery in a very special way. And the light at the end of the day transforms everything.

They arrived at the beach wearing coordinated outfits without overdoing it. Soft, fresh tones that blended beautifully with the surroundings. Nothing else was needed. What mattered most was that they were together.

The location simply helped everything flow naturally. As a family photographer Mallorca I know the setting matters but what truly makes the difference is the connection between people.

Organizing such a large family might seem complicated but in reality it offers so many possibilities. We started with group photos. Nothing stiff or posed. I asked them to move talk to each other and play. I wanted to capture who they were not just how they looked.

After that we arranged smaller groups, like the grandmother with her grandchildren, parents with their children, and siblings together. Each combination reflected a different dynamic and all of them showed affection and closeness.

We also included individual portraits of the grandmother. She was happy and emotional, surrounded by the people she loves most. Her smile said it all.

While the adults posed, the little ones ran around, laughed and played in the sand. That spontaneity is what I love most. There is nothing more authentic than a child fully enjoying the moment without thinking about the camera.

That is why I followed their rhythm. I crouched down, followed them, waited for the right moment. This way I was able to capture real expressions, honest gestures and an energy that filled every image.

At the end of the family photoshoot I realized how meaningful that moment had been. They didn’t just leave with photos. They left with a shared experience, a tangible memory of a day when time stood still.
