A few days ago I lived a very special moment as a photographer in Mallorca. I was a silent accomplice -and very excited- of a magical marriage proposal between Manuel and Dana, a lovely couple who came from the United States. He, from Miami, full of ideas and excitement, contacted me because he wanted to make surprises for a wedding proposal in Mallorca for his fiancée. She, from New York, completely unaware of what was going to happen. Together, they gave me one of those moments that will remain engraved forever.

It all started weeks before, when Manuel contacted me. It was clear to him that he wanted to propose to Dana during his trip to the island, and that he wanted something unforgettable. Thus was born one of those surprises for a wedding proposal in Mallorca that I enjoy organising so much: intimate, personalised and in a spectacular setting. I wanted everything to be a total surprise, so I took care of every detail, from the decoration to the photography.

We chose a secret spot by the sea, one of those corners of Mallorca where time seems to stand still. The views of the Mediterranean were endless and the sunset promised to be like a movie. It was the ideal setting for a special proposal in Mallorca.

On the day of the surprise, I prepared a romantic picnic with everything we needed to create a warm and magical atmosphere. We spread a rug on the ground, surrounded it with soft cushions and placed vases of wild flowers. A large bouquet of red roses awaited Dana, along with a bottle of white wine, crystal glasses and a basket of snacks. The sound of a soft music playlist completed the atmosphere. Every element was thought of as part of a unique experience: one of those surprises for a wedding proposal in Mallorca that really touches.

Manuel told Dana that he would take her to a place at sunset, and she agreed unsuspectingly. Arriving at the place and seeing the scene set up, Dana stopped in her tracks. Tears welled up in her eyes, and only then did she begin to sense what was about to happen. Manuel took her by the hand, said a few intimate words to her and knelt down in front of her with the ring in his hand.

From my camera, I watched as Dana burst into tears and nodded emotionally. It was a heartfelt ‘yes’. A moment so sincere and pure that it reminded me why I love what I do so much. As the sun went down over the sea, they hugged, laughed and cried with happiness.

After the proposal, they sat down at the picnic, toasted with wine and shared that moment while looking at each other with the complicity that only couples who really know each other have. I kept photographing discreetly, capturing every gesture and every emotion, without intervening. I wanted the images to convey exactly what they were feeling at that moment: surprise, love, deep joy.

Manuel confessed to me that he had been planning everything for a long time. He wanted Dana to have the best experience possible, a story they would remember for the rest of their lives. Dana, between tears and smiles, told me that she had never imagined anything like this. It was like living a romantic movie. And I, as a photographer in Mallorca and organiser, couldn’t have been happier.
